Join Us in Making a Difference to Others

Together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those battling breast cancer in the local community.

Unlike many of our cancer counterparts, Bosom Buddies relies solely on donations and does not receive funding from the large nationa breast cancer organisations, local or federal governments.

Your contribution, whether it's a donation, pledge, or sponsorship, is crucial. It enables us to provide invaluable emotional support to individuals who are often vulnerable and enduring costly and exhausting treatments for breast cancer, all at no cost to them.

Every donation remains within the local community, directly assisting individuals in Canberra and the surrounding New South Wales region.

PS: Did you know that the salary of some positions advertised by large breast cancer organisations could sustain a small grassroots charity such as ours for an entire year? Your support can make a significant difference.

Bosom Buddies holds Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status, allowing tax deductions for all donations of $2 or more. To cover transaction processing costs, we ask for a minimum donation amount of $5.

Our wonderful volunteers create items for our patient packs – for free and in their own time. We need your help to continue to provide our other programs and activities – you can contribute below to help Bosom Buddies support people experiencing breast cancer.

How You Can Help

A $5 support helps to buy two stress balls that are included in our Buddy Bags. They help to strengthen the arm/s after surgery

Your $10 provides one Oncology Pack to a patient undergoing chemotherapy prior to surgery.

Your $15 purchases one Buddy Bag, containing Buddy Gifts, patient aids, and essential medical instructions and information on services available in the region.

Your $25 enables us to host one support group meeting in the region, providing valuable support, a sense of belonging and community for those affected by breast cancer.

Your $50 enables us to conduct a breast awareness information session for the community, empowering individuals to support themselves through regular breast checks.

Your $100 will be instrumental in enabling us to offer vital support to a breast cancer patient facing financial challenges, ensuring they can access a post-surgery garment such as a surgical bra or lymphoedema garment, which is crucial for their recovery and overall well-being.

Your generous contribution of $200 will support us in administering and delivering essential programs and services to assist breast cancer patients in the region.

Workplace Giving is a charitable donation program that allows employees to regularly donate money to Bosom Buddies (a Deductible Gift Recipient) and receive a tax benefit. Through payroll donations, employees are able to claim an immediate tax deduction.

A bonus is that employers can also match an employee's contribution to make an even bigger impact!

Your regular donation helps us support those diagnosed with breast cancer with the added incentive that you are able to claim an immediate tax deduction.

You can also choose to make a one-off donation to Bosom Buddies through your payroll instead of having a long-term planned agreement. Just like a regular payroll deduction, one-off deductions are made from your income pre-tax, offering a wonderful tax benefit.

One of the vouchers went to a young lady in her 30’s. When she was offered the surgical bra from Bosom Buddies she broke down. She was so overcome by the gesture. She then shared her story which was heartbreaking. The day she was diagnosed with breast cancer she found out that her mother overseas was palliative with breast cancer. She received a listening ear as well as knowing there is Bosom Buddies who cares and supports women just like her. She may not have told us her story had it not been for the bra gift.

We had another lady who burst into tears when told her mastectomy bra was a gift and also shared more with us.

The generosity of Bosom Buddies and your hard work in securing funding is so much more than offering a free bra. It’s being there for women when they feel alone, it shows that someone cares and there’s someone to turn to who “gets it”.

Please thank the committee, donors and all those involved in supporting women in this way. It truly makes a difference. We are very glad to partner with Bosom Buddies in caring for women in such a practical and powerful way.

Good afternoon. I would like to thank Bosom Buddies for all assistance they have given me.

Retirement was supposed to be having holidays and spending time with family and friends. But unfortunately someone had different ideas for us.

Firstly my husband was diagnosed with bowel cancer, fortunately he is in remission. Just as he finished his chemo I was diagnosed with Breast cancer. I had my first surgery 23rd December 2022. Followed by 16 rounds of chemo, then more surgery and 15 rounds of radiation.

As a result of having lymph nodes removed I now have lymphoedema in my left arm. I am having physio weekly at the moment and I require compression garments to help get and keep the swelling down.

We are so very grateful to Bosom Buddies for all they are doing to us, by helping with my appointments and garments.

Once again Thank you so much
