Breast Cancer Support Groups

There’s immense value in connecting with others who get it.

Our breast cancer support groups are run and organised by volunteers with lived experience of breast cancer. Connecting with other people who have had similar experiences to you is a great way to share how you’re feeling and be part of a community who gets it.

Everyone’s experience of breast cancer is different. It is important to remember that any opinions expressed at support groups on things like symptoms or treatment are particular to that person. If you have questions about your cancer diagnosis you should always consult a medical professional – whether that is your GP or your oncologist. Members of the support group cannot provide clinical advice.

Support Groups

  • There are seven established groups across the ACT and the surrounding NSW region (Yass, Goulburn, Braidwood and Queanbeyan).

  • We are pleased to announce that our friends at So Brave (Australia’s Only Young Women’s Breast Cancer Charity) have joined with Bosom Buddies to support and promote a new group in Canberra.

There’s no need to RSVP - just rock up to say a quick “hello” or stay for a chat.

Studies show that support groups can enhance participants’ self-esteem, improve their relationships, and reduce depression and anxiety. (Cancer Council NSW)
